In partnership with the parish’s Seven Sisters Apostolate, Fasting Brothers is a powerful formation and prayer movement for men who want to spiritually support their pastor.
A group of six men—Fasting Brothers—each commit to one day of the week (excluding Sunday) to undertake a personal fast offered specifically for the intentions of our pastor. Men choose their own form of fast:
No food all day
Only bread and water
Or fasting until 3 PM
Whatever the form, it’s meant to be sacrificial and Spirit-led
To mirror the Seven Sisters’ Eucharistic Holy Hours, bringing a complementary focus on sacrifice
To pray for our pastor’s sanctification, spiritual strength, and growing devotion to Mary and St. Joseph vocationministry.com
Because the Church—and especially our pastors—need spiritual warriors: “This kind is not cast out but by prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:21)
In a world where spiritual fatigue and targeted attacks on clergy are increasing, the need for prayer and fasting is urgent. Our priests lead us into spiritual battle; we respond with interior sacrifice and solidarity. Fasting Brothers is our commitment to stand in prayer and in action .
Gather six committed men—one for each weekday (Mon–Sat)
Invite them to a one-year commitment, renewing each year on a solemn feast (e.g., Sacred Heart, St. Joseph)
Coordinate with the pastor and Seven Sisters group to begin the apostolate in unity
