Becoming Catholic is more than signing up for a class—it’s entering into a relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church He founded. That journey unfolds through simple steps, guided by prayer, learning, and the support of our parish community.
It begins with Inquiry—a time to ask, seek, and listen. You might be just starting to explore faith, returning after time away, or feeling drawn by something you can’t quite explain. Wherever you are, we’re here to walk with you.
Once you feel ready, you’ll participate in the Rite of Acceptance (if unbaptized) or the Rite of Welcome (if already baptized). This marks your desire to enter deeper formation and prepares you to be received fully into the Church.
During the months that follow, you’ll:
Attend Sunday Mass regularly
Learn about the Bible, the sacraments, the saints, and how Catholics live
Grow in personal prayer and understanding
Be supported by a sponsor and a small group of fellow seekers
As Easter draws near, the Church will help you focus your preparation. During Lent, you’ll be invited to participate in:
The Rite of Sending and Election (meeting the Bishop and being affirmed for the sacraments)
The Scrutinies (special prayers for healing and strength)
The presentations of the Creed and the Lord’s Prayer
At the Easter Vigil, you will receive the Sacraments of Initiation:
Baptism (if not yet baptized)
Confirmation
First Holy Communion
You are now fully Catholic, united with Christ and the Church.
After Easter, we enter a time called Mystagogy—a season to reflect on the sacraments you’ve received and begin living the Catholic life more deeply.
You’ll be supported as you:
Grow in your understanding of the Mass and the Eucharist
Get involved in parish life
Discover your vocation as a disciple
