Dear Parishioners,
As I mentioned last year, October is the month of the Rosary, and we started gathering after certain Masses with our young people at the statue of the Blessed Mother to pray one decade of the Rosary. It was so beautiful to see the children processing forward to bring a lighted candle for each prayer of the decade. More importantly for me, it was so impressive to see the adults coming forward and praying with them. When I gathered with parents to ask them about prayer in the home, it was said by some that we should not assume that Catholics know how to pray the Rosary. That was important for us to hear so that we begin doing things that matter and that are helpful for families to live the faith. We have provided the pamphlet at each church that explains how it is prayed along with meditations on each mystery. Please pick one up and spend some time meditating on the life of Jesus through the mysteries of the Rosary.
Plans are starting to be formed for the trip to Washington DC for the pro-life march in January. I would like to go again this year with the diocese. They are organizing the trip, which leaves very, very early in the morning on Thursday, January 22, and returns after the March on Friday, January 23. We arrive back in the early morning on Saturday. It is a grueling trip, but it can all be offered for the sin of abortion. More information will be coming. I am hoping that as many of you can “save the date” so that Prince of Peace can fill the bus.
Finally, I am leaving on Monday, Columbus Day, for Poland with a group from our parish and beyond. Please remember us in your prayers, and I will take the parish with me in prayer to the holy pilgrim sites. Visiting the places of Saint Pope John Paul II, Divine Mercy, St. Faustina, St. Maximilian Kolbe, as well as Auschwitz, the salt mines, and other beautiful historic places is life-transforming. With the government shutdown and Russia next door to Poland, I ask God to keep us safe. I want to take parishioners on an adventure but safely. Follow us on our website and our Facebook page. I hope to keep you updated so that you can be united with us in spirit.
Peace, Fr. Daniel
