Forming a Habit of Prayer

Praying the Rosary as a family won’t always be neat and quiet — children fidget, thoughts wander, and five decades can feel long. But even in the mess, grace is flowing. What matters is that you begin, together, and let God’s presence grow in your home through Mary and the life of Jesus.

Getting Started:

• Get the whole family on board — both spouses must commit, or the children will sense hesitation.
• Start with one decade — don’t force all five at once.
• Give options for kids — after the first decade, they can play quietly, color holy images, or use Catholic toys. Parents should continue through. 
• Pick a regular time — after dinner, before bed, or even in the car.
• Create a simple prayer space — a candle, crucifix, and a basket of rosaries.
• Relax — you don’t make the grace happen; God does.
